This thread is not intended to blame anyone or to start any quarrels. Please, share your thoughts on how we could better ourselves as Dine' People.
Do you ever think about where we as Dine' will be in 20 years?
My husband and I think about it all the time, have many conversations about this matter and it always turns out to be a depressing conversation. We have also talked to other medecine men who fear the lost of our culture and it is heartbreaking. We talked about our fears of not seeing anyone dressed traditionally, having no medecine men to turn to, very little Dine' speaking our language, our ceremonies lost, etc, etc. We feel very strongly about our Dine' Culture and have the fear of losing it. Hence the reasons why we have started a youth group (still very small) and tend to pass on our teachings and bring in more Cultural consultants / Medecine Men to speak to our youth. We have learned so much from our youth group and will reach out to other Native children around our community. There is so much we can all do as a people to keep our culture alive. I know have said this many times, here it goes again; We need to learn about our Dine' people, our history, our culture and pass on those teachings to our children and to the children of our communities. It does take a lot of time and patience to learn and get the youth involved but, it is all worth it. We try and we will keep trying to reach to our youth.
What are your thoughts?

agree, i view our people in 20 years that we have better ourselves economically and advanced in technology around our reservation. more improvements in our health care and education wise. we need our children of today and tomorrow to advance in these areas, ALL with keeping our tradition and culture alive, those who teach their children, good foe them, those who don't well, i know they know who they are in life, but yet hardly the youth of today get involve in culture activities, they are ashamed or too caught up in the MUSIC scene. I know some groups try to promote their message through their music and some by organizing a youth group like you guys, much repects to your hard work and dedications to ensure our ways of LIFE. In my opinon, our ways of LIFE will never die as long as we have PEOPLE like you guys to remind us.

Thank you... I would love to see a resurgence and reknewal of our language and culture. I would to see our children of today... starting from preschool, if not from birth, learn fluent conversational Navajo... and continue that learning on through high school. That I feel would help... alot.
